Welcome!

Welcome to the homepage of the Allegheny Institute for Natural History. The AINH is part of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The goal of the institute  is to promote and help facilitate cross-disciplinary faculty collaboration,  applied undergraduate research, and on-campus learning about rural Pennsylvania communities in the Upper Allegheny region of the Appalachian Mountains.

The AINH is actively involved in GPS mapping projects that add value to the natural, historic, and developmental assets of communities in the Upper Allegheny region of Pennsylvania. 

Appalachian Teaching Project
Pitt-Bradford students have presented their AINH supported research at the annual meeting of the Appalachian Teaching Project, a conference which is sponsored by the Appalachian Regional Commission, since 2010.

Latest News:
December 2015: 9 students participating in the 2014 ATP Project presented their work and research in Washington, DC on December 4th and 5th before the Appalachian Regional Commission and 15 other universities and colleges participating in the Appalachian Teaching Project.

December 2014:  10 students participating in the 2014 ATP Project presented their work and research in Washington, DC on December 5th and 6th before the Appalachian Regional Commission and 14 other universities and colleges participating in the Appalachian Teaching Project.
